For a Moment, I Wasn’t Anyone’s Mother

For a Moment, I Wasn’t Anyone’s Mother

Last week, I hosted a small private showing — an invitation-only gathering where I brought together a group of clients in a calm, meditative, and relaxed setting.

It wasn’t meant to be busy or impressive. There was no rush, no schedule to follow. Just time to slow down.

For a moment, I wasn’t anyone’s mother. I wasn’t organizing, holding things together, or taking care of others. I was simply there.

And that was exactly the space I wanted to create for everyone who came. A Quiet, Intentional Gathering. I don’t think of these as events. They’re more like gentle pauses.

At this private showing, we spent time painting — something many people told me they hadn’t done in years. Not to make anything “perfect,” but just to enjoy moving their hands again. Some people also wrote short notes or wishes to themselves for the coming year.

We worked with scent next. Through smelling and breathing, people were invited to notice what their bodies were asking for — often things that don’t come up in daily life.

We ended with a short group meditation, allowing everyone to settle into the moment and let everyday worries fade into the background.

It was quiet.
Grounded.
Very human.

Why This Matters to Me

During the gathering, someone said, “Our generation spends so much time taking care of family and responsibilities. We almost never make time just for ourselves.”

That really stayed with me.

So many women are constantly giving — to children, partners, parents, work. These private showings are my way of offering a small pocket of time where nothing is required of you.

That’s really all this is about.

I don’t create events.
I hold space.

Bringing the Feeling Home

The pieces shared during the showing were all made by hand, slowly and intentionally. Each one is designed to hold scent — something simple that can be part of a daily ritual.

My hope is that when someone wears a piece or adds a familiar aroma, it brings them back to that feeling of calm and ease, even if just for a few minutes in a busy day.

Sometimes, giving yourself a little space isn’t indulgent—it’s necessary.
